• Q: How old must my child be for PreK admission?

  PreK applicants must be three or four by September 1st of the year they enter.

• Q: How old must my child be for Kindergarten admission?

  Kindergarten applicants must be five by September 1st of the year they enter.

• Q: What is the teacher to child ratio in the classrooms?

  Every classroom has two full-time teachers. In PreK and Kindergarten, the ratio is 1:10, and in grades 1 through 8, the ratio is about 1:11. The overall ratio of teaching staff to students is 1:6.

• Q: What are the school’s hours?

  The school day runs from 8:15am - 3:15pm 

  There is a 1:00pm pick-up option for PreK students.

   

• Q: Is there an Extended Day Program?

  In general, the Extended Day Program provides care for children in grades PreK through grade 8. The program runs from dismissal – 6:00 p.m. Extended Day is divided into three separate programs serving PreK-2, Grades 3-4, and Grades 5-8.
  
  In addition to the regular Extended Day program, there are a range of extracurricular activities offered throughout the school year. These include our intramural sports teams, various clubs led by both students and staff, STEM classes, theatre offerings, and more! Both Extended Day students and other FSS students may participate in these programs.

• Q: Does Fayerweather offer tuition assistance?

  Yes. Assistance is given on the basis of need. Over 30% of the students at Fayerweather receive tuition assistance, representing about 15% of the school’s tuition revenue. See Tuition Assistance for further information.

• Q: How are admission decisions made?

  Fayerweather admits students of diverse racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds, learning styles and family structures. Applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Fayerweather gives priority to siblings of students who are currently enrolled.

• Q: When are families notified?

  Letters notifying families of our decision are mailed on March 10. Families have a month, thereafter, to enroll their children. Fayerweather also maintains an unranked wait pool of applicants to fill any vacancies that may occur unexpectedly over the spring or summer.
