    Parents/Caregivers Joint Affinity Group Meeting

We are excited to announce a special joint meeting of our Adult Caregiver Affinity Groups at Fayerweather! This gathering will bring together members of our POCWitnessing WhitenessLGBTQIA+, and AAPISA affinity groups for a shared space of connection, community, and support. It’s a unique opportunity to build relationships across groups while also continuing the important work we do within our individual identities. All parents and caregivers who are part of these affinity groups are welcome to join!

The four caregiver groups this year are as follows:

People of Color (POC): for any parent/guardian who identifies as a person of color. (Black, Indigenous, Asian, AAPI, African, Latinx/Hispanic, Middle Eastern American, Native American, biracial and multiracial heritages.) or has a child who identifies as POC.

White Allies: for any caregiver/guardian who does not identify as POC and wants to identify and address white supremacy culture characteristics in and outside of our community, while building a shared language and an understanding of privilege.

LGBTQIA+: for any caregiver/guardian who identifies as or has a child who identifies as LGBTQIA+.

Asian American, Pacific Islander, South Asian (AAPISA): for any caregiver/guardian who identifies as has a child who identifies as AAPISA.

We hold these spaces for parents and caregivers, and Fayerweather staff to come together and share experiences related to their identities, ask and answer questions, and find their place in a subset of our community based on an aspect of their identity. We recognize that some people might have intersecting aspects of their identity and therefore may attend more than one affinity group. These spaces are intended to be driven by people’s interests and experiences, so bring your curiosity, energy, and ideas. We hope that, ultimately, these groups will effect positive changes, such as enhancing school culture, supporting each other, fostering personal growth, supporting students' activism in these areas, and more. We hope to see you there!
