Extended Day Spanish Teacher ('24-'25 School Year)

Hours: Part-time
Description: We seek an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Spanish Teacher to join our Extended-Day school program starting September 2024. This position is part-time and will be taught twice weekly. The stipend for the class is commensurate with experience. This position is perfect for someone who has a flexible schedule during after-school hours and is passionate about teaching the Spanish language. Our ideal candidate will have a strong Spanish language and culture foundation and the creativity and energy to make learning an exciting experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Spanish lessons tailored to students of varying skill levels, focusing on conversational skills, some grammar, some reading, and cultural knowledge.
- Create a dynamic learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for the Spanish language.
- Utilize various teaching materials and methods to suit different learning styles, including multimedia tools and hands-on activities.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with the Extended-Day staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience and participate in program meetings as required.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Spanish, both written and spoken, at a native or near-native level.
- A bachelor’s degree in Spanish or education or a related field is preferred.
- Prior teaching experience is highly desirable, especially with children or in groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students and work collaboratively with staff and parents.
- Creative and flexible in teaching approaches, with a solid commitment to developing engaging curriculum materials.
- Must pass a background check and have a valid working permit.
